The term "Section 8" refers to Article 8 of the Law on Housing and Community Development 1974, which was passed during the Nixon administration to provide vouchers to low-income citizens, which could be used in order to rent an apartment privately owned . Instructions and tips
1. Find your local office of Public Housing Agency (PHA for its acronym in English) of Florida. Section 8 applications for the state of Florida are not available online. The process for obtaining housing benefits in Section 8 should be started in person at a local office of PHA. See the "Resources" for a directory of PHA offices statewide.
2. Application requests a Section 8 housing. You will be asked to provide s information on your income, dependents and disabilities you have. You must also provide a picture ID and your Social Security card PHA representative when you submit your application. The completion of the application allows you to be placed on a waiting list. When a voucher is available, you will be contacted to move to the next phase of the Section 8 housing.
3. Use your bonus to select a rental unit. Local offices have a list of PHA's Section 8 housing approved in your city or county. You'll have to sign a lease and pay the balance of the rent does not cover the bonus every month. You will also be responsible for the payment of public services, unless they are included in the lease.
